Bragg writes a segment of dialogue from the battle, in part: ...Genl Gibbon's compliments, Press the enemy as far as it is safe' Col [Edward] Bragg -raising a slouch hat'... Col Bragg compliments to Genl Gibbon - It has been d[amned]d unsafe here for fifteen minutes -Steady six - forward.' '.. 'Bragg signs, adding his rank "Lt. Col Comdg. 6th Wis. Vols. " A fine item!
