[ Autographs ] EDWARD MANNOCK (d. 1918) British World War I military aviator, Britain's top ace with 73 kills before being shot down by ground fire. Exceedingly rare fine content war-date D.S. as Commanderof the 40th Squadron, RFC, 1p. legal folio, [France], Dec. 15, 1917, apartly-printed "Combats in the Air" report describing one of his kills In part: "...observed 4 Albatross Scouts approaching from S[outh]... patrol attacked immediately...singled out one and attacked, diving on him twice, and getting in short bursts at very close range and drivinghim down...later attacked 4 D.F.W.s...and drove them off..." File holes at left margin, otherwise very good.
