War date A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo., "Camp Fredericksburgh", Nov. 5, 1778 Mr. Newcomb. Interesting content to a friend, in part: "...Nothing could so soon induce me to forgive you the enormous crime of neglect and open breach of Friendship as your pleading guilty... promise to make amends by redoubling your diligence... the lawyers in Boston quite out shown the Doctors in turning out volunteers for the Rhode Island expedition; but it is a pity they were in such a hurry to get home...The small part of the army that is here is under marching orders - Itis yet doubted whether York will be evacuated this Winter...' In rough shape, with text light but fully legible, a tear into the text,and several old archival tape repairs not affecting text. Still, a good content letter.
