Troops", Orange Courthouse, Va., Aug. 9, 1863 Warnick Hockaday writes his wife: '...the officers of our regiment and I understand those of all the North Carolina is in an uproar about the news of going back in the Union... our rulers hascommitted an oversight in bringing on so many hot and stubborn battlesand trying to end the war by lighting... yankees with all their men and the advantage of the navy [are] not able to go into our country.. our generals... [should] defend our country the best way we can and save the lives of our soldiers... labor to save their men as did illustrious Washington..."More good content.
