Description:

[ Autographs ] (Confederate Fort Sumter Flag) A fine Civil War relic a section of the Confederate flag that flew over Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor at the time the fort was re-taken by the Union! Thered flag remnant measures about eight inches long and about one inch wide from a red-colored area of the flag. Two vertical tears exist, yet the remnant remains appealing with a section bearing a hand- stitched edge. A paper bag which once contained the relic is inscribed as follows: "Cut from the last Confederate flag that flew over Fort Sumter. It was cut off when the flag was shot doun by Sergt Arthur Gilliland of the Color Guard of the Confederates before the Yankees captured the fort... A terrific souvenir!
