[ Autographs ] Christopher C. Andrews Fine content A.L.S. 4pp. 4to., Washington, Mar. 23, 1866 Andrews writes to Bvt. Brigadier General S T Busey, awarded his rank for gallantry at Fort Blakely, Alabama, about a history Andrews is writing of the battle. In part: [I] am pained as wells as surprised that any of your regiment [76 Illinois] think I did not do them justice in regard to their part in the assault on Blakeley... these gallant regiments that I have named cheered on by their commanders pushed forward. without wavering... the redoubt opposite my right was taken after a severe light in which the 76th Illinois bore the severest part... received considerable praise in the papers for what it did... I do not remember the nature of the ground at the right of the Stockton road but think there was quite a ravine. How near the rebel works were most of your men killed or wounded?...'
