[ Autographs ] [CHARLES VI] (1368 -1422) King of France from 1380 - 1422, defeated by Henry V at the Battle of Agincourt. Document from his reign, unsigned,1p. 6.75in x 14.25in, Paris, Nov. 15, 1394, a contemporary copy of a letter from Charles VI concerning tax for continuing the ongoing war with England, stating, in part: "...our brother the Duc d'Orleans has lent us 10,000 francs...greatly affecting the honor and profit of ourselves and our kingdom (which we do not wish to be declared)...the treasurer of our wars...to pay....10000 francs to the Duc d'Orleans...". Minor soiling, otherwise very good.
