[ Autographs ] CARRY A. NATION (1846 - 1911) American temperance agitator who believed that since liquor was illegal in Kansas, she had the right to destroy with her ax liquor, furniture and fixtures in illegal drinking establishments. Rare S.P. by Nichols and Davidson ofTopeka, Kansas, 11" x 14" b/w showing the hatchet-wielding Nation in full length with a bible in her left hand. Boldly signed "Carrie Nation Aug. 19" on the blank mount beneath the image. Slight scratching and wear to image and minor bleeding to signature, otherwise good. A striking image which richly captures the Temperanceleader's intensity! Perfect for hanging over the family bar...
