[ Autographs ] CALVIN COOLIDGE (1872 - 1933) Thirtieth President of the United States who succeeded to the presidency upon the death of Harding. Exceptionally rare D.S. as President, an official Treasury check which is the last check Coolidge would receive as President, paying him for his services in that capacity. The document measures 8.5in x 3.5in, dated in Washington, D.C. on March 2, 1929, and orders that "CALVIN COOLIDGE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES/THE WHITE HOUSE/WASHINGTON D.C." be paid the sum of E625.00. On the verso, Coolidge signs his name in full as endorser. The check cleared four days after its making, with the very light red ink cancel traversing the signature. Two days after the issuance of this check, Coolidge shook Herbert Hoover's hand on Inauguration Day. Punch cancel affects nothing, a small tear at top margin onto date only, otherwise very good.
