[ Autographs ] CALEB BLOOD SMITH (1808 - 1864) Secretary of the Interior in Lincoln's administration, seconded Lincoln's nomination in the 1860 National Convention. A.D.S. 2pp. legal folio, Fayette County Court, Indiana, September, 1830, a very involved petition in which Smith represents a physician suing for slander following a accusation that the doctor was a "damned impostor and quack". Boldly signed at conclusion, also signed by OLIVER H. SMITH who later served as a U.S. Sentator. Very good.
