[ Autographs ] (BUYING CAPTURED BRITISH SHIPS) Interesting war-dated A.L.S. 1p. sm. folio, Withersfield, Ct., May 1, 1780, from a man engaged in purchasing captured British merchant ships to his partner, in part:"...I send your acct. of the cost of the Sloop Hawk ...we have2 prizes now lying at Rockey Hill, one a sloop loaden with sundry goods...the other a fine new Brigg well formed - never made a voyage ,but 4 months old...". Quarter sized tear in middle left margin away from all writing, otherwise very good.
