Union army sergeant who shot assassin John Wilkes Booth as the murderer's figure passed a crack in the wall of a burning barn on Richard Garrett's farm in Virginia. Exceptionally rare and timely signature, signed the day after Corbett shot Booth at Garrett's farm! The signature, penned on a4" x 1 3/4" slip, reads in full: "Boston Corbett Co. L 16th N.Y.
