[ Autographs ] BLACK INDENTURED SERVANT Manuscript D.S. 2pp. legal folio, Montgomery County, [Pa.?], Apr. 11, 1812, an indenture in which Joseph Nayburgh takes "...James a person of Culler [sic.] of theage of Five years to be an apprentice...[and instruct] James in the craft mystery and occupation of a farmer...and allow unto the sd. apprentice sufficient meat drink apparel washing lodging and all otherthings needful..." James' term was until age 21 when he was to be released with a new suit of clothes. James was apparently a ward of the state since Nayburgh received James from the overseers of the poor for the county. Very good condition.
