American Major-gen. Arnold has quitted the rebel service, and joined the Kings standard; and of the unfortunate failure of a plan ...whichterminated most fatally for Major Andre, his adjutant-general who being taken prisoner, was tried by a board of rebel general officers,and condemned by their sentence to suffer death; which sentence was ordered by the rebel general Washington... he sincerely lamented the melancholy fate of that officer..."
