[ Autographs ] (Battle Of Shiloh) Interesting A.L.S. 2pp. 4to., "Camp near Corinth", May 19, 1862 An unidentified officer reports the loss of his horse, in part: "...my claim against the Government for One Horse killed in the battle of Shiloh... a Minie Ball passed entirely through him just in rear of my legs, while I was engaged riding alongthe lines to see where the enemy was pressing our men... the horse was killed without any fault or negligence on my part... my saddle...fell in the hands of the Enemy...' The officer valued his horse at E150, saddle at E37.50 Fine.
