Cody 1846-1917 "Buffalo Bill", American scout and showman, he started his career as a rider with the Pony Express, and in later years organized and promoted "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show". Fine content A.L.S. 'Uncle Will" with his last name "Cody" appearing twice in the text and a third time on the transmittal envelope, lp. 4to. on "Buffalo Bill's Wild West" letterhead [France], June 14 [1905] While in the process of a nasty divorce proceeding with his wife, Cody, an ardent Freemason, writes his niece Josie Goodman defending his position with the Masons. In part: ''..Yes, it's not Masonic or brotherly Love to try to take advantage of a Brother mason in his absence and should [?] succeed I will appeal to a higher Lodge. My Dear Cody has not started to grow. The longer you know Uncle Frank the more you will like him [Your mother] can't help but feel jealous when others get letters and she doesn't. Tell her to forgive me on the grounds that I am fearfully busy Thank her for her devotion to me. The Masonic trial has been postponed until July 11th. If she can write any of the wives of Mason's or Judge Grimes it would help... ' With transmittal envelope Fine condition.
