[ Autograph ] William G. Brownlow 1805-1877 "The Fighting Parson", apro-Union newspaper editor arrested by the Confederates for treason and banished to the North. D.S. as post-war Governor of Tennessee, 1p folio, Nashville, June 15, 1866, a partly-printed executive order instructing John Bell to arrest fugitive Bart Stuart in Louisiana andreturn him to Tennessee. One small tear in margin, a few ink spots around signature caused by Brownlow's forceful use of his pen.
