[ Autograph ] Pearl S. Buck Fine lot of 14 original typed manuscripts 107pp. total, ca. 1945, a series of articles written by Miss Buck for the United Press explaining American life and customs for the people of India. There are hundreds of words in her hand, mainly corrections and additions to the text, with two of 32 carbon copies signed by her in full at the top of the first page. Half the articles are titled, and they discuss a variety of subjects, including the bombing of Hiroshima, how language and belief aided democracy, the custom of Thanksgiving, sex, dancing, family life, morals, kissing and drunkenness, and religion, with reminiscences of her life in the Far East. An exceptional lot, with truly fascinating content.
