[ Autograph ] Pearl Harbor Unbelievable postal history item, an A.L.S of Lt. Comdr. Samuel " Glenn" Fuqua written onboard and mailed fromthe U.S.S. Arizona only two days before the ship was blown-up during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor! The envelope is addressed to Mrs Samuel G. Fuqua in Long Beach and bears a postal cancel reading " U.S.S. Arizona Dec. 5, 1941 9 Am'. Fuqua's A.L.S. "Glenn", 2pp. 8vo. iserroneously dated Nov. 5, 1941 and is written on U.S.N. Airmail letterhead. he writes: '..The war situation really looks bad in the Atlantic with the Germans sinking and torpedoing our Navy ships. I think we should go after them. I guess that is just what the Navy on the East Coast is doing... am enclosing the premium notice on my insurance...' Fuqua was the senior surviving officer of the Arizona, and received a Medal of Honor for his gallantry. Envelope opened a bit roughly obviously! , but cancel and all text are fine.
