[ Autograph ] Napoleon Bonaparte 1769-1821 The "Little Corporal" whose brilliance in the field of battle and as Emperor of France has made him perhaps the most important figure of post Renaissance Europe.Exceedingly rare D.S. with four-line A.N.S. by Napoleon in the margin 1p. large 4to., Elba, June 22, 1814, lee than two months after he was exiled to the island The document itself is an A.L.S. of Napoleon's marshal Antoine Drouot 1774 -1847 who Napoleon called "TheSage of the Great Army" and who had accompanied his leader to exile. Druot submits a report titled "Report to his Majesty the Emperor' concerning clothing and expenses of other French officers in exile, mentioning: '...Since the officers cannot be housed in the military buildings nor can they have furniture. Mr. Gauscot would like to knowthe intention of his majesty...' In his hand Napoleon writes in the left margin: 'There must be housing at Longone for 50 officers. make a report for me about this. Approved.' 'he signs with his initials "NP.", as he usually did. Eight months later, Napoleon and his loyal officers would sail for France for his last campaign, the "100 Days".Any writing in napoleon's hand is very rare! Fine condition.
