Signed front cover (only) of a black-related publication, 'The African Repository", a monthly collection of speeches and essaysconcerning racial issues, published by the American Colonization Society which sought to resettle freed slaves in Liberia. At the top,Fillmore signs in full and dates the item 'March 18, 1867' A most interesting association, as while President, Fillmore signed the controversial Fugitive Slave Act requiring the return of escaped slaves to their Southern masters. Toned, with a few tiny marginal chips, otherwise very good.
