[ Autograph ] Korean War Correspondence Large Korean War correspondence consisting of 82 handwritten letters from William H. Cable, U.S. Marine Corps., June 26, 1950 - Feb. 7, 1952 Cable was stationed in Guam before going to Korea to serve in the first and fifth Marine divisions, with 55 letters from Guam, three letters from Japan, and the final 22 letters from Korea. Many are on illustrated lettersheets. Fine content, in part: "...I saw a four star Jap General that is being held prisoner. he is waiting for permission from somoneto hang him... have been guarding the Jap General the last two days... told me he was in the U. S... said he was spying... he laughed at Roosevelt. he was telling how he was feeding Roosevelt a big line andRoosevelt believed it all...' Later, in Korea, he writes: ' ...on standby, ready to go into the attack... are sure giving the Reds a hard time today. Planes and artillery I mean.... Three gooks walked up to our lines and gave up this noon. I guess they are really having a rough time. They look only about 15 years old or so... " Much more.Very good.
