[ Autograph ] John Quincy Adams Partly-printed L.S. "J. Q. Adams' as Secretary of State, lp. 4to., Washington, Aug. 14, 1819 Adams signs a circular letter to the clerk of the district court in Philadelphia asking him to furnish a statement: '...of the business depending in these several courts, together with the statement of the fees and emoluments of the Marshals, District Attorneys, Clerks, and other officers...' On the verso is printed the resolution of Jan. 18, 1819 under which these orders were set forth. Fine.
