Fine content T.L.S. with holographic correction, lp. 4to., Princeton, May 23, 1903 with an important reference to Cleveland's application of the Monroe Doctrine to the Great Britain-Venezuela boundary dispute of 1899 In part: '...the two lectures I gave touching the dispute with Great Britain over the Venezuelan Boundary were published They do not treat very fully with the principles of the Monroe Doctrine. The best exposition of that Doctrine,... will be found in the communication sent to Lord Salsbury on the subject of the Boundary dispute dated, I think, December 1895 ..'lt was only after intense American pressure that Great Britain agreed to submit to arbitration the dispute concerning the boundary between Guiana and Venezuela, averting a likely war and maintaining American dominance in this hemisphere.
