Ford goes into some detail explaining to the lady the remedies available to her , mentioning the national Institutes of Health. On Syria, he writes: '..Unfortunately, at this time the United States hasno diplomatic or consular representatives in the Syrian Arab Republic. All American personnel were withdrawn from that country on June 6, 1967 [1967 Arab-Israeli War] and the Embassy in Damascus will remain closed until further notice there is no way your cousin could apply for a visa...'
