[ Autograph ] George III 1738-1820 King of England during the American Revolution, it was his policies of taxation and repression that led to the uprisings in the Colonies. Partly-printed D.S. 'George R.' as King, 1p. folio on parchment, Court of St. James, May 6, 1795, approving the promotion of Thomas Holland to the rank of Major, co-signed by Henry Dundas as Prime Minister. Fold splits causing the loss of two or three letters of text and at top margin, edge wear with marginal foxing and some lightening of manuscript text.The King's signature remains very distinct.
