A.N.S. with initials on the verso of a pre-printed correspondence card, London, May 30, 1946 to Symon Gould of the American Library service. The printed portion gives Shaw's reason for declining to write a preface: "'.A request for a preface by him is therefore a request for a gift of some months of hard professional work... it is not possible for Mr Shaw to oblige...' at bottom, he dates the note, adding: "This card has been sent to W Reinheimer also. G.B.S. " Tiny stain in left margin, otherwise very good.
