[ Autograph ] Franklin D. Roosevelt Fine content T.L.S. with holograph postscript as State Senator on official letterhead, 2pp. 4to., Albany, Apr. 13, 1911 to Hon. Clayton L. Wheeler. As the leaderof the anti-Tammany Democrats, Roosevelt writes his associate, in part: "...I feel very strongly that our work is by no means over we shall have to give most attention to the direct nominations legislation. I believe it will be a mistake for us to try to get all of the former insurgents together again, but there are ten or twelve of us who can form a pretty good nucleus we can get support from someof the men who were opposed to us in the senatorial fight. It is a matter which must be delicately handled vital importance to the administration and the party..." he adds in the postscript: 'There isgeneral satisfaction in my District over the outcome of our light".
