[ Autograph ] (Fort Bridger) Fort established in 1842 by trader Jim Bridger who fled a Morman posse, it was later occupied and headed by Albert Sidney Johnston and served to guard the Overland Trail. Lot oftwo D.S.'s, Fort Bridger, 2pp. total, 12mo., 1880 concerning a delivery of beef to the Post Hospital. The fort had just been re- occupied due to the Ute uprising and Meeker massacre.
