[ Autograph ] (Early Maryland) Excellent research-worthy lot of about 100 Maryland-related documents, mostly partly-printed legal documents all pre-1900 with the majority dating well before the Civil War. A number of the documents are mortgages and land deeds, but the majority appear to be summons for debtor's court, as well as writs authorizing the sale of a debtor's property at public auction. These writs list all of the property of the unfortunate debtor to be put onthe block, which usually comprised all their personal property including crops still in the ground. An interesting look at life before economic "safety nets" were created. Overall, fine.
