Lot 732
[ Autograph ] (Circus Ephemera) A large lot of hundreds of printed items from the King Brothers Circus, ca. 1940 This was a comparatively large circus, boasting over 150 performers, 250 animals, 5,000 seatsand an investment of over half a million dollars. There is much duplication in the lot, but a good deal of quality circus ephemera, including twenty copies of "Circus Stories", a ten page oversize booklet with illustrated stories on clown Bozo Ward, the El rey Sisters acrobatic team, John, the 125-year-old elephant, leggy show girls, horse and pony acts, and so on. Also included are dozens of "mats" used by newspapers to print the circus' advertisements, showing each ad in relief, with printed handbills, sub-contractors' licenses, free passes for sign-posters, requisition forms, envelopes, etc. A good dealer lot!
