[ Autograph ] Ambrose Bierce 1842-1914 American journalist and writer who covered the Civil war, later turned his ascerbic wit to columns and short stories. Lost in the Mexican desert. Fine content AL.S. 2pp. on two attached leaves, New York American office, Washington, [ n.d.] to "My dear Reagles'. In part: '...It was pleasant to learn that we did not altogether kill you that day in Washington, though I doubt if we should have known it if we had. May good fortune and good booze attend you in the Bad lands. And may we meet again on both sides of the death-line... It has been a damned cold winter here, and Im signing for the flower-pots (as well as the flesh-pots) of California...' Rare, and in very fine condition.
