[ Autograph ] (A Lock Of Washington's Hair) An actual lock of hair, about seven to ten strands, from the head of George Washington! According to the provenance, the hair was originally owned by EleanorParke Custis, grand-daughter of Martha Washington. A later owner was Col. Levin Powell a Revolutionary War hero and close friend of GeorgeWashington. As a matter of fact, Washington rode ten miles on his oldcharger to vote for Levin in his successful election to Congress. Thelock was obtained directly from the Custis Powell family and is attractively double-matted against an image of Washington. Below is asigned provenance from Charles Hamilton.
