Fine group of World War II-dated A.Ls.S. and one World War I-dated D.S. by various Austro-Hungarian military leaders, all of whom served during World War I. Includes FRANZ KLEMM (Generalmajor; requesting a fox fur as a Christmas present for his wife, sending news of his brother and his disappointment at not having been promoted to the rank of Major, and remarking 'During this war, you have taken part in much that is interesting, and you are now again in an important and highly responsible post', 19th October 1942), JOSEF DOBRETZBERGER (Feldmarschalleutnant),sends thanks for 65th birthday greeting; EMIL KUBICK (Oberst; stating, in part, 'I have learned of the outstanding success which you have achieved….as well as of the high decoration with which the Fuhrer has recognized and rewarded your exceptional performance…..We older officers….experience the present war from the sidelines and follow the happenings with excitement and ungrudging pleasure….' and seeking the possibility of leave being granted to Josef Totter, a motorcyclist at his correspondent's headquarters, 1 August 1940), KARL PLACHOTA (Oberst/Generalmajor; sending congratulations on the occasion of his correspondent's marriage, February 1929), FRANZ VON WIKULLIL (Master-General of the Ordnance), ARTUR RITTER VON PRZYBORSKI (Commander of the 21st Landwehr Infantry Division) and PETER FREIHERR VON HOFMANN (General der Infanterie; D.S. in pencil, one page, oblong 8vo, Field Headquarters, 10thMarch 1916, to Captain Bohme, in German, directing him to send a cabinet photograph of himself for presentation to Freiherr von Marschall). All of the letters are accompanied by the original hand addressed envelopes and all are written to FRANZ BOHME (1885-1947), Austrian General in the Wehrmacht, Commander of the XVIII Mountain Corps in the Balkans and Commander-in-Chief in German occupied Norway during World War II. He was arraigned for war crimes at Nuremberg and committed suicide while awaiting trial. Generally very good. Seven pcs.
