ATOMIC BOMB MISSIONS SIGNED JAPANESE FLAG
Silk Japanese national flag, approx. 36 x 26 in., signed by four key members of the missions to deliver atomic bombs to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Those signing include: PAUL TIBBETS (1915 - 2007), American bomber pilot of the Enola Gay which delivered the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, August 6, 1945, who adds: 'Pilot B-29 Enola Gay 6 Aug. 1945'; THEODORE 'DUTCH' VAN KIRK (1921-2014), American Army Air Corps officer, navigator of the Enola Gay during its mission to Hiroshima, who adds: 'Navigator Enola Gay 6 Aug. 1945' and also writes: 'II/WWII Victory over Japan Aug. 1945' in the center of the flag; MORRIS R. JEPPSON (1922-2010), Enola Gay weapons officer, who signs adding 'Weapons Test Officer Enola Gay Mission' and adds a note similar to Van Kirk's to the center of the flag; and CHARLES D. ALBURY (1920 -2009), Army Air Force pilot who participated in both atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He co-piloted the B-29 bomber 'Bockscar' during the mission which dropped the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. Albury notes his rank and position as co-pilot, adding: 'The Great Artiste Hiroshima Aug. 6, 1945 Bockscar Nagasaki Aug. 9, 1945'. He also adds a side view sketch of the atomic bomb 'Fat Man' which was used on Nagasaki. In very fine condition.

Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
