Description:

ARTUR AXMANN
(1913 - 1996) Leader of the Hitler Youth from 1940 to 1945. In that capacity he commanded units that were incorporated into the Home Guard, many losing their lives in the defense of Berlin in 1945 lacking any military training. Tried at Nuremburg, he served three years as a 'major offender.' Scarce S.P. 5" x 3 1/2" b/w magazine photo of Axmann greeting newly decorated young soldiers. Offered together with a vintage 7" x 5" b/w photo of Reinhard Heydrich greeting members of the Hitler Youth bearing an N.S.D.A.P. stamp for Gau Baden on verso. Two pieces in overall fine condition.
