ARTHUR WELLESLEY WELLINGTON
(1769 - 1852) British general and statesman called the "Iron Duke", he crushed French forces under Napoleon at the battle of Waterloo. A.L.S. 1p. 8vo., London, Feb. 2, 1851, to Lord Seymour while Wellington was serving as Hyde Park Ranger overseeing the frantic last-minute activities leading up to the opening of the Crystal Palace Exhibition in Hyde Park in May, 1851. He informs his superior: "…I have sent orders to the gatekeeper of the Prince of Wales' gate to allow all personals having notes from Colonel Reid to pass into and out of Hyde Park at all times of the Night…". Fine.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
