(1892 - 1984) "Bomber Harris", British Air Marshal and head of the RAF Bomber Command in which capacity he oversaw the first 1,000-bomber raid. War-date T.L.S. 1p. 8vo., "R.A.F. Station, HIGH WYCOMBE, Bucks", Nov. 24, 1943, to Charles E. French in Huntington Park, Ca., whom he addresses as "Clover Charlie". In part: "...General [Ira C.] Eaker has just sent me the four-leaved clover which you asked me to pass along to me. Such a potent talisman in bound to bring good fortune to us both. On the night of the very day on which it arrived we made the biggest and most successful attack on Berlin - with exceptionally light casualties to our Force!...". With original envelope, very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
