Description:

Good lot of four World War II propaganda leaflets distributed to Allied soldiers and civilians, two in French and two in English, all featuring anti-Semitic content. Includes: a French anti-Semitic propaganda "dollar", an excellent two-sided replica of a Series 1935A U.S. dollar printed on recto and verso. Closer examination shows that the "dollar" is actually a carefully folded piece of propaganda. Printing within makes obtuse comparisons to "Jewish attributes", continuing: "The Minister of the Treasury in the United States is the Jew MORGENTHAU, a member of the huge sharks of international finance…THIS DOLLAR PAYS FOR THE JEWISH WAR…Money doesn't have an odor..BUT THE JEW HAS ONE!…" The leaflet shows two horizontal splits mended with cello tape, with additional folds and minor wear, else very good. WITH: a second leaflet in French, 4pp. 12mo., with three pages featuring derogatory caricatures of Jews. The text blames long lines and a lack of availability of foodstuffs on black market profiteering by Jews, and ends with the plea: "French! Avoid the Jew, his scams and his good little affairs without tickets". Shows slight toning, a horizontal fold and a pencil date on the first page, else very good. WITH: propaganda leaflet in English, 5" x 6 1/4", entitled "Why hasten the end of the war?", and containing incendiary claims that Jews and communists are already preparing for World War III, while noting England's increasing debt to the U.S., and ending with: "We want a definite peace for a long period and no Jewish World War III. Shows a large chip to the left edge, a horizontal fold and minor toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: double-sided propaganda leaflet in English, 6" x 7 1/4", entitled "You Can Be Certain" and listing a number of outcomes of the war certain to be disadvantageous to the average Allied soldier, including grievous injuries, a lack of jobs, and a new crop of millionaires. The verso bears a poem entitled "Sagacity Sam Says", beginning with the lines: "You can be certain that after this war/More Jews will have millions than ever before..." Shows large chips to the top edge, with notable toning overall, else very good.
