Description:

A German propaganda poster published in response to the events surrounding the assassination of founder of the Swiss NSDAP Wilhelm Gustloff (1895-1936), 1p. 4to., [n.p. n.d, but likely 1936], addressed to 'The German Public.' It reads in part: '...Under Jewish leadership, the Gustloff case is being exploited in an almost shameless manner into a German heist of the greatest proportions. In order to glorify the murderer, a 'committee for the defense of Frankfurters' was formed with members in many cities of Europe, which publicly set up collecting donations for the murderer and made propaganda in every form... Jewish lawyers from Paris, Amsterdam, and Cairo...publicly admitted in the press that world Jewry would do everything possible to bring up the trial...as a propaganda attachment against Adolf Hitler's Germany... Furthermore, a book 'Die Schuffe von Davos' was brought out... in answer to these attacks which were carried out in a genuinely Jewish manner...' File holes at the left margin, creased with light edgewear. Gustloff was assassinated in the Swiss city of Davos on February 4, 1936 by a Yugoslavian Jew named David Frankfurter, and the incident was used extensively for propaganda purposes in Nazi Germany.
