Description:

Excellent double-sided propaganda map, 22 x 29.5 in. unfolded, offered as a supplement to the NSDAP propaganda magazine "Illustrierter Beobachter" ("Illustrated Observer"), depicting France on one side and its overseas colonial holdings on the other. Most notably, when folded, the map displays a derogatory representation of the French empire beneath the title "Frankreichs Schuld" ("France's Gulit"). France is represented by an overblown stereotypical representation of an African colonial soldier with his arms crossed and a French tricolor attached to his rifle bearing the motto "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite". Behind him stands a stereotypical depiction of a Jewish banker, as well as Free French general Charles de Gaulle and a second colonial soldier. The map shows very slight splits towards the margins, else very good to fine. SOLD WITH: The March 16, 1940 issue of "Illustrierter Beobachter", also titled "Frankreichs Schuld", which had originally accompanied the aforementioned supplement. The heavily-illustrated issue, 48pp. folio, concentrates heavily on the "corruption of the French government" by the nation's blacks and Jews.
