ANTI-GERMAN ROMANIAN PROPAGANDA LEAFLETS (2)
Very rare pair of Romanian anti-German propaganda leaflets, each 2pp. 8vo., [n.d., but after August, 1944]. The first leaflet shows Ion Antonescu dutifully polishing a German boot, and in the next panel getting kicked into the air. It reads in part: '...Romanian soldiers and officers! General Antonescu - Hitler's agent, was removed by him from the supreme command of the Romanian army. The vile traitor has done his job, throwing the Romanian people into the thrall of German fascism. Hitler no longer needs him. He wants to rule alone in your country. The German fascist General List has now been put at the head of the Romanian army and the country...Romanian soldiers and officers! They force you to shed your blood for the interests of fascist Germany. You will serve as fodder for bloody fascism...turn your weapons against the German fascists - your oppressors...Go to the forests and mountains! Organize detachments of partisans to fight against the German occupiers. Don't give your bread, your oil, to the German army. Destroy the military objects: airfields, bridges, roads, leave the German military echelons on the slope...' The second leaflet shows Antonescu serving Hitler a tray filled with Romanian 'Blood...Oil...Grain'. Its text points out the number of dead since the war began, and refers to Antonescu as still being in power. It urges soldiers to join the Red Army, and notes that the flyer may also serves as a safe conduct pass, with Russian text explaining the same. Folds, some soiling, else very good. Two pieces.
