(1898 - 1975) American Army general who held Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge, remembered for his reply to a German surrender ultimatum, 'Nuts!' Lot of three T.L.S.s 'Tony' on his corporate letterhead, each 1p. 4to., New York, 1959-63, to Dr. Gilbert Darlington, an Episcopal clergyman who was the retired treasurer, publications director and investment officer of the American Bible Society. Some good content, in part: '...I was delighted to receive the book by Cornelius Ryan covering the D-day operations in Normandy. I had read a few excerpts in the Reader's Digest but am very happy to have the opportunity to read the complete story...I was greatly pleased to receive the book on space...there are few things more important to all of us...I attended the annual dinner of the Veteran Corps of Artillery...' Fine condition. Three pieces.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
