ANNA PAULOVNA
(1795-1863) Queen Consort William II, King of the Netherlands, she was the mother of King William III and the grandmother of Queen Wilhelmina. She was the granddaughter of Catherine the Great and the youngest daughter of Czar Paul I, and was only six years old when her father was assassinated. Manuscript L.S. "Anna" while Queen Consort, 1p. 4to., The Hague, Dec. 14, 1846, in French to an unidentified man who had sent her a gift book. She writes in French: "...Having received the posthumous work of your father which was published by you, and which you were kind enough to send me, I am pleased to express to you my sincere thanks...". Mounting traces to corners, else very good condition.
