Rare, partly-printed invitation from "The President of the United States, and Mrs. Johnson requesting " to "Mr. & Mrs. [William E.] Robinson's Company to Dine" The elegantly printed invitation measures 5" x 6" and in the upper blank margin (above the fold) features a large embossed "J" at center. William E. Robinson (1814-1892) was a Democratic representative from New York who in the 1840s served as the Washington correspondent for the New York Tribune writing under the name "Richelieu." This is the first invitation from Johnson that we have encountered. Minor browning at extreme edges, fold as noted, mounting remnants on verso, else fine condition.

Shipping

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
