AN ARCHIVE OF ITEMS RELATING TO THE HORRIFIC EVENTS OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER BOMBING (30+)
A fine collection of over 30 personal items from an employee of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey named Richard (name not publicly revealed here), relating to the 1993 World Trade Center Bombings conducted by Al-Qaeda operative Ramzi Yousef, as well as items relating to the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Includes: three Port Authority employee photo identification badges; a card wallet with various Trade Center related business cards; a set of the master keys for all the restrooms in the North Tower, stamped ‘World Trade Center', the only such keys known to still exist; three signed letters from STEPHEN KNAPP, the chief maintenance supervisor who died in the initial blast of the 1993 bombing; three ‘Temporary Construction Identification Cards'; an internal three page news release from 'Port Authority of NY & NJ' and Governor MARIO CUOMO, announcing he will move back into his office on the 57th Floor of Two World Trade Center; a form letter dated March 19, 1993 with a facsimile signature from Fire Commissioner CARLOS M. RIVERA welcoming all workers back to the complex; an undated form letter signed by STANLEY BREZENOFF, Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York, and CHARLES MAIKISH, Director of the World Trade Center, also welcoming workers back, and stored in a folder, a worn phone directory containing names of the Port Authority employees, most of whom would be killed in the 9/11 attacks of 2001; a full page memorial from the Port Authority newspaper listing all the employees murdered in the attacks; as well as an additional Port Authority newspaper also listing all the employees killed in the attacks; a letter from RONALD SHIFTAN, acting Port Authority Executive Director after the attacks, inviting all current and retired employees to a memorial event at Madison Square Garden, including a memorial pin from that same event; an employee's personal passbook; a pin commemorating the centennial of the Statue of Liberty, a form announcing a change to the Port Authority health plan, a visitor pass card for Morgan Stanley, a ticket and an instruction letter for OpSail; two World Trade Center envelopes from the Port Authority; with a 1995 brochure for lunchtime concerts held at the Center Stage between the towers. Also included is a first edition of ‘New York September Eleven Two Thousand One' by Giorgio Baravalle and Cari Modine (New York: De Mo Design) 2001. 4to. approx. 200pp. Very good and extremely rare collection of personal items connected to two of the most tragic events in American history.
