897. AMHERST, VIRGINIA ARTILLERY DOCUMENT A good war-date manuscript, 1p. oblong 12mo., Confederate requisition form for supplies issued to the Amherst Light Artillery commanded by Capt. Thomas J. Kirkpatrick, Chesterfield Station, [Va.], March 16, 1863 accounting for 600 friction primers to given to the battery to equal the number of rounds on hand. Attested to and signed by 1st Lieut. George W. Hobson who was in temporary command of the unit. He was wounded June 3, 1864 at Cold Harbor and wounded again and captured at the battle of Monocacy on July 9 of the same year. A hard fought artillery unit that suffered heavily at Gettysburg, and there were no members left to surrender the battery at Appomattox. Very good. $200-300
