AMERICAN THEATRE WING BADGE ON WOMAN''S HAT
Brown wool woman''s pillbox hat, bearing on the right-hand side an enameled gold-plated sterling silver badge, approx. 2 1/2" x 3/4", the insignia of the American Theatre Wing, depicting an winged mask in blue and white with the name of the organization on a red banner above. The pinback badge is unmarked and shows minor wear, else very good, while the hat shows slight soiling and moth nips. The American Theatre Wing was a part of the Allied Relief Fund during World War II, and encouraged theatrical education while supporting servicemen and families of veterans. The organization later created the Tony Awards. Also present are a number of additional items related to the American Theater Wing''s production of the propaganda film "Stage Door Canteen" and the recreational center for which it was named, including a branded deck of playing cards; two film programs; a third program for a showing of the film at New York''s Capitol Theatre; the sheet music for the song "We Mustn''t Say Goodbye" from the film; an advertising flyer featuring caricatures of several of the film''s featured performers, including Benny Goodman, Gypsy Rose Lee, and Guy Lombardo; a letter on Stage Door Canteen stationery; and two additional letters on USO stationery.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
