Description:

AMERICAN M1 HELMET
American World War II M1 combat helmet loosely identified to 'Sidney M. Doroshow', a soldier whose records show that he was a veteran of Omaha Beach. Fixed bale M1 helmet with front seamed stainless steel binding. Helmet showing it's full original period OD green textured paint scheme and is adorned with WWII period tight-knit style camouflage netting. We suspect the netting has been with this helmet since the beginning, because the helmet's finish underneath is totally unblemished, showing one manufacturing stress crack to front left side over the binding. Helmet has both khaki sewn-in straps, in near perfect condition, with a stamped brass raised bar buckle and split hook. With original liner with original leather chin strap fully intact, interior of liner worn and soiled, with web straps and sweatband present, there is a 1.5 in. crack to the front left visor area of the liner shell. Scrawled in pencil to the underside of the liner visor is the name of it's owner, ‘S. DOROSHOW', additionally there is a painted serial number to the inside left skirt of the liner, '07806'. A couple small tears to the camo netting, with the helmet showing a small dent to the left crown, otherwise a very good textbook example of an early M1 combat used helmet.
