AMERICAN INFANTRY OFFICER'S HELMET
Nineteenth century infantry officer's helmet, black cloth-covered oblong body with sloping front and rear visors. Large gilt brass American eagle and shield with "8" and crossed rifles, crossed rifle side bosses, bullion-type decoration and gilt brass chinstrap backed with leather. Leather sweat band very good, red satin lining marked "Bent & Bush Boston". Bottoms of visors show some wear. Also present: acorn and oak leaves base, white horsehair tassel and gilt brass attachment, gilt brass fluted 3" spike top, breast cords with "waffles" and tassels, and tin storage box marked "Horstmann Bros. & Co. Army & Navy Goods Philad.".

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. NOTE: large, heavy or bulky items are not shipped by the auctioneer.
